Welcome! I’m Amy, and it’s nice to meet you! I’ve taught upper elementary math in Texas for over 15 years. As a math enthusiast, I want every student to LOVE math! I want them to be excited about finding math in everyday life. My goal each year? To reach those kiddos that start the year feeling meh about math. I want them to KNOW it’s the greatest subject in the world by the end of the year!!
As a teacher author, my goal is to provide creative, mathematically sound products that your students will love. I’m also excited about sharing ideas, and teaching tips with you. Above all, I hope to inspire you with classroom solutions, creative math goodies, and engaging lesson activities to help make your teaching days easier.
A peek in my classroom
If you were to take a peek in my classroom, you would see the students up, moving, and engaged. We would be using rhyming jingles with motions to help solidify newly learned concepts. I would describe my classroom as organized and structured, but definitely relaxed and fun. Not only do I want my students to feel accepted and loved, but also to be comfortable making mistakes or asking questions. It’s also important to me that my kiddos realize that working hard and pushing themselves to do their best is a lifelong skill that will always benefit them.
My Family
I am married to the greatest guy in the world; although he was SHOCKED to learn that teachers weren’t paid by the hour with overtime! In addition to our 4 kids and their spouses, we have 6 (soon to be 7) amazing grandkids, Murphy, our dachshund, Rigby, our Springer Spaniel and our cat Pocket. I love to work in my flower garden, and read. We are blessed and life is good.
